Melissa van Rooyen is a registered clinical psychologist in the private health sector. Before transitioning to private practice, she worked for the Department of Corrections, Life Hunterscraig Hospital, and Nelson Mandela University as an intern psychologist.
Her expertise primarily lies in working with victims of sexual abuse and providing treatment for rape survivors. Since becoming a mother in 2021, Melissa’s interests have expanded to the role of early attachment in infancy and its impact on an individual's psychological development into adulthood.
Together with her husband, Kempie, she is committed to guiding new parents through the mental health challenges that often accompany the journey of parenthood. This includes not only the challenges related to parenting but also the interpersonal difficulties that many partners experience during the initial adjustment to becoming parents.
